The Dragon that Never Sleeps has one of the most fascinating settings I've seen in science fiction - the human empire is at its bloated apex, an analogue of the Roman Empire as it was poised to fall. In place of Rome's Legions are great, nearly invincible Guardships that put down opposition with impunity.4/4(97).

The Dragon Never Sleeps had a tough plot to get into. There are a lot of moving parts taking place in this story, loaded with a cast of characters scattered across a substantial universe, clones, artifacts, lost races, aliens, and Guardships.4/5.

First up is Glenn Cook's The Dragon Never Sleeps, which somebody commented here on the blog to recommend (though I forget on which post): To enjoy this book (which, in the end, I definitely did), you have to enter a zen-like state of acceptance that you will not understand the absurdly convoluted plot, or even what the characters are talking.

An excellent read of an excellent book If you could sum up The Dragon Never Sleeps in three words, what would they be. Complex and fascinating world What about Fleet Cooper’s performance did you like. The precision of his read is perfect and it makes this book come alive page after page.

"The Dragon Never Sleeps". Some of the characters are aware of where they stand in relation to this metaphor, some are not. There's a great sequence where the tragic hero of the piece, recruited by petty empire grabbing employers, puts them in their place by saying "I've dealt with thieves before."Did I mention this was the best book I read in 5/5(5).

The Dragon Who Never Sleeps is a collection of gathas—poetic vows for daily living in verse form—that are similar to prayers.

Reciting these gathas can help us to face life's difficulties with understanding and humor. They serve as gentle reminders to live in the present, accept ourselves, and offer joy to others/5. The Iron Dragon Never Sleeps Is a good book but the book was a little slow through a lot of the book but some of the parts went fast.

[Glen Cook] -- Kez Maefele, a general of the Ku Warrior race, leads a group of aliens, biological constructs, and scheming aristocrats against a force from outside Canon Space that threatens to disrupt the status. The book screams for a sequel, though also stands on its own just fine.

(BUT PLEASE GIVE US THE SEQUEL, GLEN!!) I'd love to see Peter Jackson given free reign (and a HUGE budget) for a part 'Dragon Never Sleeps' movie series like he is doing with 'Lord of the Rings'.

The book is very hard to find; check Ebay and look in used bookstores.4/5(68). The Iron Dragon Never Sleeps by Stephen Krensky Historical fiction books need to pedal the line between fact and fiction without drifting too far into either lane.

Krensky drifts a little too far into the fact lane. They are interesting facts to be sure, but they propel the story more-so than the characters which makes the pacing slow in parts.
